In continuing to bring innovative and current information to educators in Maryland and the surrounding states, the Maryland Assessment Group is working with our vendors and MSDE to provide professional development sessions on a wide variety of educational topics facing public schools throughout our state and nation.  Our annual conference will be held once again at the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland beginning Wednesday, November 14, 2018 and concluding Friday, November 16, 2018.  We are pleased to announce that Jay McTighe will be one of our featured presenters this year.

Conference Registration Fees

MAG accepts payment by credit card, check or purchase order.  If paying by purchase order, please send your invoice to the appropriate department for payment.

Payment must be postmarked no later than November 1, 2018.

Please note, the Early Bird Registration fee of $210 is only good through October 1st. The rate will increase to $220 at that time.  Register early to take advantage of the discounted rate.

Cancellation Policy:  Participants canceling their registrations on or before November 1st will receive a full refund less an administrative fee of $60.00.  After November 1st, cancellation fees will be considered for extenuating situations only.

MAG is offering a special Pre-Conference Session from 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM on Wednesday, November 14th.  A lunch break including a complimentary box lunch, will be provided.

Is your curriculum aligned?  How do you know?  These are important questions.  True curriculum alignment means alignment to the essentials of standards, the instructional shifts demanded by the standards, and integrated assessments.  And that is only the beginning!  Join Carla Moore for a workout session to self-assess your system and learn the critical steps to build an integrated and aligned system that raises the floor for teaching and learning.  Let's take the guess work out of providing a curriculum to support implementation for all students.

Carla Moore is the award-winning co-author, with Michael Toth and Dr. Robert Marzano, of The Essentials for Standards Driven Classrooms, and of Creating and Using Learning Targets and Performance Scales.  As a thought leader, she leads a team of curriculum experts in developing, facilitating and helping transform districts and states in reference to standards-aligned curriculum systems.  Ms. Moore is a National Practice Leader for Curriculum and a member of the Applied Research Center at Learning Sciences International.  She is nationally recognized for her commitment to K-12 education.

In a world where everyone wants to increase data-driven instructional planning while simultaneously reducing testing time, it's helpful to have a systematic assessment plan--an annotated list of the district, school and classroom-based assessments available alongside the instructional decisions that can be made based on each assessment.  In this session, participants will use a structured protocol to work through both the data requisite for districts, schools, and classrooms, and means to evaluate the quality of assessments designed to provide that requisite data.  District teams will have an opportunity to design, develop, and/or refine their systematic assessment plan.

Several meals are included in the conference fee.  In order that w we have an accurate count, please choose the meals you will attend.  You will receive tickets for the meals you have chosen in your registration packet.

Hotel Reservations

A special group rate has been negotiated with the conference hotel.

This oceanfront hotel is the conference headquarters for MAG 2018.  Rooms have either two double beds or one king bed, most with pull-out sofa bed.  One, two and three bedroom condos are available in a separate building.  Maid service is not included with the condos.  Indoor pool and exercise facility on premises.

All reservations must be made by October 24, 2018 for these rates.  All rates are per room, per night.

For reservations, please call the hotel toll-free at 1-800-638-2100 and request the MAG Conference group rate -or- download reservation form.

A deposit equal to one night's room and tax will be required to hold your reservation.  You will receive confirmation directly from the Clarion.

The deposit is refundable if reservation is cancelled at least 72 hours prior to arrival and a cancellation number is obtained.  There will be no refunds for early check-out.
